Welcome to 2019 EMAN-AP!

It is my great pleasure on behalf of the EMAN-AP Committee to welcome you all to the 11th EMAN in Asia Pacific (EMAN-AP) Conference in Danang, Vietnam.

The 2019 EMAN-AP conference theme ‘Business Value and Corporate Sustainability Management in Asia Pacific: Strategies and the Use of Sustainability Accounting’ highlights the urgency of global sustainability challenges, in particular corporate responsibility and sustainability in Asia Pacific region. The challenge associated with balancing the three perspectives of sustainability (social, environmental and economic) is huge and accounting and management scholars have played an important role in developing tools and approaches seeking to understand current business practices. However, scholars note that there are still limited, lack of academic and practical investigation in business value and corporate sustainability management in Asia Pacific context.

The roles and use of sustainability accounting and management to support business organisations to create business values is currently unclear and warrants our attention. During the 11th EMAN-AP conference (12 – 13 August 2019), we are seeking theoretical and practical approaches to address the roles and strategies of sustainability accounting and sustainability management to support business organisations to create business values.

This conference brings scholars and practitioners together who represent a large spectrum of thinking and approaches in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference theme challenges academia and corporate practice alike to reflect on the role and (potential) contribution of environmental and sustainability accounting to sustainability management.

I look forward to bringing theoretical insights and practical ideas.

I thank all the organisers for their hard work and wish everybody a most enjoyable and productive meeting.
